ADOBE - Website Award

Award:

Students used Squarespace to build their sites so their focus was not on coding but branding and functionality. As with all good websites a consistent brand should be immediately obvious. The main page should have impact and entice the viewer to continue through the site. An engaging about page with a bio that is professional and perhaps a little cheeky. A blog with content that is interesting and reflects their business. With contact info, and links to their social media platforms that are easy to find.

Below are the submissions for the award, from all the Faculty and Staff good luck to all who submitted. Thanks to our sponsor Adobe for continuing to support our students.

JUDGE:

Alison Capuano is a graduate of the Algonquin Photography Program and also has a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University.

After graduating, Alison photographed product images for small companies. She realized having photos was only one piece of the puzzle for some clients and began offering more services like website design, social media content creation, and eventually marketing plans. That was how she found herself in the marketing industry and has stayed ever since. She currently works full time for a Toronto-based marketing agency as a Senior Account Manager of Digital Marketing.

Throughout her career, Alison has redesigned and created multiple websites. She has experienced firsthand how a website can be everything for a business since it acts as a virtual storefront and sets the tone for client interaction. She believes websites should combine aesthetics, functionality and wow factor all while keeping user experience top of mind.

Alison is excited to be the judge for this year's Adobe Best Website Award. She can’t wait to see what the Photography Program’s talented students have created.

Judge’s Comment:

Congratulations to Paige Robertson, the winner of the Adobe Best Website Award for paigerosephotography.com!

Paige expertly used branding and functionality to create a stunning website. The choice of the high impact image on the home page was bold and well-executed. But what really delivers “wow” factor is how the menu switches out the hero image for each topic when navigating over the links for fashion, portraits, and events. In addition, Paige’s brand was well represented with personable “About” and “Blog” pages that provided great insights into her style of photography and its origins. Finally, the clean design on each page allows clients to have a great experience while navigating through the website and provides a clear call-to-action with the contact form. Overall, Paige did an exceptional job of combining aesthetics, functionality and wow factor all while keeping user experience top of mind.

The runner up, Maddison Morrow, congrats!!

Website: Black Fox Images

Judge’s Comment:

An honorable mention goes out to Maddison Morrow for blackfoximages.com! Maddison’s website design primarily features black and white allowing her colorful photos to stand out. The contrast really delivered “wow” factor and is incredibly eye-catching
