James Zagon Memorial Award
Award:
Awarded to a graduating student in the Photography program who has a passion for a career in photography and also has volunteered in the community and/or Algonquin College. This award was graciously donated by Sandra Zagon in memory of her husband James Zagon.
In his work with the Bank of Canada, James Zagon combined his artistic flair and his technical photography skills, which he honed over the years, to capture the beauty of the pieces of the Bank’s National Currency Collection. During his many travels, he also took photographs of his family, friends, city and landscapes. Born in New York in 1945, he moved in 1970 to Ottawa, Canada, where he lived with his wife of almost 32 years before passing away in 2002.
The James Zagon Memorial Award is administered by the Algonquin College Foundation. The selection is made by a committee, established by the Faculty of the Photography Program.
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the James Zagon Memorial Award is Chris Wagg.
Chris is a dedicated learner who is always striving to improve. She has a unique perspective and creative flair that shines through in her work. She's also a helpful team player, who is always ready to lend a hand to her fellow students in the Studio and Print Lab. Great job, Chris!
