The Fork Off - The Post Gallery
The goal of this assignment is to create an abstract image using light and shadow with a familiar object, an ordinary fork.
Students also are forced to practise pre-visualization by anticipating the image in a different crop than their camera’s viewfinder. This assignment also encourages the students to slow down and observe how light and shadow interact to create intriguing and abstract shapes with the shadow. The fork must be photographed against a white background and only using one light.
The Faculty have picked the top three images for this year and they are on display in the Post Gallery, room A147C. The top three image were photographed by: a
Matthew Hawes
Avery Flanders
Kat Blackwell
